Elewah*
(8)
I left with the first seven. As we were heading out, The Brethren barked at us from the monte just to the south of the shrimpery trail, which my charges dutifully ignored. However, Roni heard them, and thought perhaps Elewah would like to go see them, so after I had been gone a few minutes she let Elewah out, who proceeded to run us down nearly 3km into the monte. She must've followed our trail, because I don't know how else she could've found us. Amazing. She stuck with us for the rest of the run, which was fun but uneventful. No man's land is flooded now, which makes for tough going (more for me than the dogs, obviously). Hurricane Alex has stirred up the beach a bit, but it was still quite nice. Posey thought about running up to a couple salt workers, so I put her on the leash for 500m, but otherwise everyone was good.

Not even tropical depression Alex could stop us... actually, it wasn't so bad; we've had nortes that were much worse. Went the full 10k in a light rain and moderate winds, which made for a pleasant run most of the way. Started to get a little dark and scary out in no-man's land, but we outran it. Everyone behaved themselves and had a good time. Oscar, Archie and Otto were especially covered in filth by the time we hit the beach.

Relatively short, but a good one, and a good distance for everyone. Lucy did lots of swimming on the way home.
GRADE: A
mid-morning swim:
Greta
(1)
Rough seas ahead of Tropical Storm Alex's arrival sometime tomorrow, but Greta needs it, so she did 6 laps in medium/heavy seas. Once again she made me carry her down the stairs and all the way to the water...

morning run:
Gracie
Bette
Chester
Godzilla
Frijolita

Truman
(7)
Good group, went the full 10k. Chester was on the leash at the start to keep the pace down, and Truman was on a couple of times because I don't like him running up to people (he didn't, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with it). We ran into another pack that almost certainly was The Brethren on the road to no-man's land; didn't see them, but they barked at us a lot, and all of ours just stuck with me. Pretty good over-all.
GRADE: B
evening mini-walk:
Miles
(1)
Miles did his pathetic dance at the gate, so I just took him down to the shrimpery and back. No lagging, amazingly enough.

Tuesday
Gowron
(7)
Good group, went the full monty via the greenway. Tuesday dragged her heels a bit on the way home when we came up the maginot line, but was generally good; she was on the leash most of the way, but off in no-man's land and on the beach. Everyone else did well. Rufus did tear off into the cow pasture at the end, but he didn't bother the cows; still, he shouldn't be doing that at this point. Hot and humid, and we left reasonably early.
GRADE: B
mid-day swim:
Greta
Zasu
Ziggy
Maggie
(4)
Greta did 10 laps again, but this time she made me carry her down the stairs and down to the water... at least that counts as some kind of workout for me. By the time we got out with the other three it was getting rough, but they really showed their colors, especially Maggie. All of them swam quite a bit, in spite of big waves, and Maggie pushed it and came out to get us both several times. Zasu was showing quite a bit of new-found seadogship, timing her "launches" towards us with the the waves. Ziggy is becoming a better swimmer, which isn't hard (he was TERRIBLE to begin with), but is still impressive.
GRADE: A
morning walk:

Just down to the shrimpery with the shorties, concurrent with Greta's swim. Miles did his usual dragging-of-the-paws, and it is hot and humid now.

Greta went out while the others were walking and did TEN LAPS: a new record for her. Seas were calm, and she was giving me a run for my money until the last lap. We're very proud of her, and she's looking much better; her limp is still pretty bad, but it is getting better. Zasu and Henry came out to the beach with Roni after the walk and Zasu did her now-usual swimming routine with us. Maggie and Ziggy joined in late, and swam quite a bit, but the seas were starting to get rougher. Everyone had a good time.
GRADE: A
morning run:
Alice
Lucy
Ginger
George
Chester
Ernie
Reggie
(7)
Hot and humid with (mostly) the fatties, so it was not overly long, but clearly long enough; everyone swam a ton on the way back home, at least. Reggie showed a tiny bit of interest in running up to some gringo jogger on doce in front of the balneario, but everyone else was perfect the whole way, including with motos (Ernie) and trucks (Ernie). Alice and Lucy dragged their asses at the start, but by the end they were keeping a respectable pace.

Miles*
(5)
Miles came out to read his pee-mail after everyone but Zasu had gone back in. We swam a bit more then, and when I say "we" I mean us two AND Zasu. Zasu was terrific, and I honestly don't know how many laps she did. Greta did 7, and was very good about walking down to the water and not making me wrestle her. Maggie and Ziggy also swam a ton; in fact, Maggie, Ziggy and Zasu went out with Greta on every lap, and then some. They also did a fair number of figure-8's around us in the water and generally larked about aquatically. Seas were calm, water was clear, fish were jumping, tabanos were biting... must be June.

morning run:
Gracie

Posey
Osita
(7)
Long one. They were all pretty good, but Osita and Posey were both on the leash at different times for not listening well enough... nothing serious, but with those two you can't let a glimmer of a notion turn into an idea. Otherwise very good. Humid and hot, even though we left early, and the monte is starting to get wet from all the recent rain. Mosquitoes have not yet started in earnest, but they're thinking about it.
GRADE: B+
mid-day swim:
Greta

She did 5 laps in medium seas after a couple days off for all sorts of reasons; she was breathing hard by the end, and did well. This is definitely helping her.

Ernie was confused (he's not the brightest dog) and took off on the beach like we were going for a run, so I had to chase him down and get him pointed back towards home. He isn't super good just ambling around, so we put him back in early... will have to work on that a bit. Everyone else was great. Greta did 8 laps, Zasu did her now-usual coming out to get us routine, and everyone else swam quite a bit. Seas were calm, crystal clear, and warm but not too warm.
GRADE: B+
afternoon swim:
Greta
Zasu
(2)
Greta did 7 laps, and is definitely getting better at it, although not really better about it: had to wrestle her into the water. Once she's in, she's good. Zasu, on the other hand, continues to amaze us. She swam out to us and between us repeatedly; we lost count of the number of times.

Elewah*
(7)
Elewah joined us en route to the greenway; she must've seen us go by at the shrimpery and followed us from there. Took the scenic route, back around to Au Soleil Couchant, but not out to no-man's land. The heat and humidity are tough for everyone right now, even if we leave relatively early. I brought Elewah in so she could get something to eat and sleep in her favorite cozy spot during the heat of the day (which she is doing right now).

Greta did 7 laps, and went in early with Rufus (because he was not listening terribly well). Zasu did untold laps, and is now regularly coming out to get us in the water by herself. Everyone had a good time with a piece of nasty fish on the beach, and swam a lot. Beautiful, clear, calm seas; the tabanos are the only problem, and they weren't as bad today as they are sometimes.

Good group. Tuesday was on the leash almost the whole way, but she was good about it. Gowron and Bette asked for a short-cut on the way home, so we didn't go to Au Soleil Couchant, we came out to the beach at the tortuga sign and went back up the maginot line. Bette needs to be watched, she wasn't her usual self towards the end.

Zasu continues to impress us by swimming out to get us instead of waiting for us to go fetch her. Everyone else was good and swam a lot: completely calm, crystal clear seas, hardly any breeze. We gave Greta the day off because she's had a bad limp, but she should start again soon.

Greta's leg/hip is really giving her trouble today; she did 5 laps in medium seas, and that was enough. Zasu continued with her stellar swimming performances, did 6 laps plus a bunch more. The rest just generally screwed around and had fun.

Elewah*
(8)
Elewah joined us at the corner near doce, where she just happened to be hanging out. We went pretty far, but the pace was still fairly quick: out to the greeway, across to the southern charcos and out to no-man's land. The beach was INFESTED with tabanos, which hounded us the final 2km. Still, a good one. Everyone was stellar. Elewah drinks out of the bottle now.

Greta did 6 laps in calm seas, but was much better about it than she has been, and even larked around a little recreationally. Frankie got out early (bad at the gate), was put back in and let out again once the fatties had done a few laps, along with Rufus and Gowron. Zasu did 5 laps to start with, but then continued swimming with us, much more than she ever has. She was out the entire time, after we put everyone else back in, and swam out to get both of us repeatedly, something she has never done before. Lucy also swam a lot; several times we had little doggie log-jams in the ocean as they all criss-crossed. Everyone had a great time.

Bosha*
(8)
Greta did 7 laps, Zasu did 5 and then some, Tito did... some swimming. Anyway, he moves around in the water a bit, and then he gave us the run around on the beach, so I'm sure he enjoyed that. Everyone else was let out after Greta and Tito went in, and had a good time swimming and screwing around on the beach. Bosha left by herself to go check out Kikis, but I have a feeling she'll be back later today.

April
(7)
April was briefly off the leash on the beach heading North, and quickly made me regret it; she was back on for the rest of the run. Everyone else was perfect, and April was fine once she settled in. It wasn't a terribly long one, but fairly decent. Getting hotter earlier.
