Southern charcos: ~8k. It was a bit chaotic getting out - Rufus was crazed and they were all pretty excited. Once we got going they calmed down almost immediately. I had Rufus on the black leash and Xmul on the long one for the first kilometer and we pretty much hauled ass until we made the turn into the monte. Once Rufus came off the leash he was great - no taking runs at anyone, just a lot of happy horsing around and running. I tried to keep slack in Xmul's leash the whole way and everyone else was happy to oblige. For a change we crossed from the palapa road to the swimming hole via the berm but then cut back and continued north to the road instead of heading home from the swimming hole; I saw a truck with a bunch of salt workers in the distance from the palapa road and our normal route would've taken us right by them. This group had no bad actors but I didn't feel like dealing with the other issues (ahem) and everyone was really up for running so what the hell... we took the interior route in the monte to the blue bag trail. I put Jack on the black leash near the wooden shack just to continue to work with him on being better about going on the leash and he was indeed better. He just needs a reminder once in a while. Everyone was good to the gate and had a great time.
