01.12.13

morning run:
Posey
Eve
Godzilla
Reggie
Daisy
Amber
Hazel
Tori
Murci
(9)

Southern charcos: ~8k. We went the full monty this time: east across the land bridge fording, south and east into the monte, from one end of the palapa road to the other and home via the swimming hole and the alt. land bridge. We left with nobody on the leash; it was an extremely high-energy group yet somehow they all really stayed close to me. Posey pushed the pace a little too much at times and dove into the brush north of the palapa road at one point, obviously in pursuit of some marmot. Nobody followed her and I put her on the hook when she emerged to calm things down a bit; I let her off quickly and she kept closer thereafter. Everything is so flooded that I think they swim more on these runs in the monte than on the beach this time of year; their hijinx at the swimming hole were hilarious, since you can't see where it's shallow ("road") vs where it's deep ("hole") easily... they were all running around like lunatics and disappearing into deep holes suddenly, only to emerge with a huge splash and do it over again. I put Amber on the hook in the water just east of the alt land bridge on the way home, since I still don't completely trust her to not bolt for home when we get close. Murci got put on the other end of the leash just before the dirty road and they were good that way until we got home. Everyone else was really angelic; Daisy, Hazel, Tori and Murci are super-buddies and Amber also likes playing with all of them so they were especially cute together the whole way. It was overcast and cool again and everyone made the most of it.
