vet trip:
Tito
Cookie
Flaca*
(3)

I took these three to the vet in Merida: Tito to get his teeth cleaned, Cookie to get checked over before being vaccinated for Distemper/Parvo/etc. and Flaca, Jaqueline's dog, to get checked and sterilized. Flaca was a street dog that survived distemper as a puppy; she suffers from a slight tick as a result of the damage from distemper but is very sweet and intelligent. Jaquie, who helped with our first clinic in town, has been worried that she might be pregnant after having gone through heat recently. It is not a good idea for dogs who have survived distemper to have puppies for many reasons and I was going with Cookie anyway so, with appropriate precautions, Flaca came along and was a real trooper. Dra. Sandra did her best with the surgery, given that Flaca also has Erlichiosis in addition to her constant involuntary movement that makes operating challenging. I am happy to report that Flaca came through with flying colors, is getting all of her meds and is recovering nicely with Jaquie. Cookie got her bloodwork and shots and Tito had one tooth removed and looks and feels much better. Doggie dentistry is important.
