Long and winding road backwards, no shortcuts or extras: 10k. We left early, but the humidity is already noticeable before the sun has properly risen; by the time the sun is high on the horizon it is brutal. Ginger, Rita, Floyd and Bette finished the water with 2.5km to go; I gave most of it to Ginger and Rita as the run wore on, but Floyd was good about it throughout and got his share. Rita definitely has an issue with her toes, especially on her front left foot; I think the salt hurts it sometimes. I used some of the drinking water to rinse out her foot pads a couple of times and watched her the whole way; she's a trooper and had a good time regardless, but it's a continuing issue for her. Ginger had a blast, and everyone was generally good. I thought about going the extra 2.3km north of the long and winding road, but at this time of year you'd almost have to leave when it was still dark to be able to make it before it was too hot and humid.
