Hidden trail: ~8k. We went the long way again to avoid flamingos but we saw a ton of them regardless; Xmul is the only real threat and she's always on the leash but Ziggy likes to chase the little birds sometimes so I also made a point of keeping him close verbally. The bugs were bad in spots but we hardly noticed as we were moving pretty quickly. A strange and oppressive air pervaded the monte this morning and the dogs obviously felt it. It was overcast but calm and virtually silent; the dogs all kept close to me even in places where they normally run ahead a bit. The ocean is churned up right now but Ziggy, Daisy and Xmul were not dissuaded and came in to get me a few times; the undertow was bad enough that I felt the need to nudge Ziggy ahead towards the shore with my foot at one point. Everyone behaved, had a good time and seems a little tired now... hope it lasts.
