To the beach at Au Soleil Couchant via the swimming hole: ~7k. Zoot left with us but got The Fear right past the shrimpery on the coco trail heading out; I tried to coax him along but he would have none of it, turned tail and bolted for home. I thought he would be okay to get home and would just wait by the gate until noticed, which is exactly what he did; I should've thrown Lex in, he would've made Zoot braver. The rest of us carried on and had a nice run on the now-usual route to the swimming hole and the beach. The bugs were noticeable but not as bad as they have been recently. Archie has a limp a couple of hours afterwards; we need to have him checked over and see if there's anything serious... he showed no signs of having any problem on the run, only after he's cooled down at home. Elewah was really good and came home by herself as she has been recently; I'm still a bit wary when we're near the road because of her inclination to chase vehicles but we'll have to see - maybe she's gotten over that.

Roni took this crew out into the blazing heat for a walk to the north of the dead goat trail. Given recent misbehavior she thought seven was enough and it worked out well; everyone behaved themselves and had fun.
