Past the tortuga sign: ~4k. We took the maginot line going both ways. It was a little late and starting to get hot but there was as stiff breeze, even in the monte, and the occasional cloud. We got barked at by one of the soldiers' dogs as we headed north from the maginot line but nothing noticed us coming home - the wind was coming from the south so we were invisible on the trip home. The gulf was muddy and gross from rotting seaweed but the wind made it tolerable and everyone had a good time in and out of the water. We might've gone farther but I could see two people with a little dog up past Au Soleil Couchant as we were passing the tortuga sign. I think they parked at the tortuga sign and walked up because there was a newish sedan there... I came to the conclusion that they were heading south so I didn't take us too much farther north before turning around. Nobody minded - they all had a good time no matter what we were doing.
