08.12.12

morning run:
Blue
Eve
Chester
Gowron
Rufus
Jack
Lily
Lex
(8)

Southern charcos: ~8k. In spite of the time off Rufus was surprisingly good at the gate on the way out; I'm not saying he wasn't a bear but I had him hooked up and ready to go in a few seconds and he calmed down relatively quickly. We took the parallel road going north and headed to the palapa road as normal, coming home via the serpentine and the cut-over. Just east of the circular intersection a white dog started following us; male, about Rufus' size, short coat. He seemed inclined to check us out and I thought it strange that none of mine were reacting to him very much; Lily barked at him a little but hardly at all, and I had Lex on the leash so he didn't factor into it. When we crossed into the intersection proper Rufus all of a sudden took note of him and bluff-charged, with Jack on his heels; this made our follower tuck his tail and head north. Rufus was good about coming to me afterwards and we didn't see the white dog again; he could've been out there with people I suppose, as there were salt workers nearby. These same salt workers left some presents under a bush near the cut-over, which put me in the position of having to wrangle them away from said filth while getting Rufus back on the leash, as he was one of the chief investigators. Disgusting, infuriating, etc. I must remember to avoid the cut-over and the region directly south of the intersection for a little while as people seem to be working there regularly and this kind of thing is unpleasant. I came home the rest of the way with Lex and Rufus on either end of the leash - no problems, everyone was good.

morning walk:
Zasu
Miles
Henry
Lucy
Tito
Frijolita
Otto
Linda
(8)

Roni took this crew out for a walk down to the charcos. Lucy irritated her by taking off down the trail home at the end but she only ran to the gate; Miles' dawdling sort of makes that kind of thing stressful on occasion but this time it wasn't so bad. Linda was especially well-behaved before and after. Yay mom!
